    Face Palm…

    1. Terminal illness such as cancer can be cured by prayer, the head of the Catholic Church in Australia says.  Cardinal Pell says that won’t give sick people a false sense of security because they realise cure by prayer is a “very long shot”.  Link
    2. Samuel Martin Martin, a 27-year-old Spanish priest, has been thrown out of the Church after it emerged he spent up to $23,000 of church money on a sex addiction and advertised himself as a male prostitute.  Link
    3. A middle school teacher in Montgomery County, Maryland, will have to apologize to a 13-year-old student after yelling at her and having her escorted out of class by school police when the student refused to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.  Link
    4. “Roman Catholic leaders in the Philippines have lambasted a government campaign that encourages condom use to help prevent the spread of HIV and AIDS, while a health official has blamed the church for thwarting its drive.  Link
    5. Utah is not a state known for its legislative sanity.  This, after all, is a state that recently made headlines for proposing to honor gun manufacturers on Martin Luther King Day and for considering the elimination of 12th grade to cut back on education spending.
    6. While on Utah, they can have 6 as well.  Utah just became the first state in the U.S. to criminalize miscarriage and punish women for having or seeking an illegal abortion. Utah’s “Criminal Miscarriage” law:
    7. Texas Law: Sec. 49.02. Public Intoxication. (a) A person commits an offense if the person appears in a public place while intoxicated to the degree that the person may endanger the person or another.(a-1) For the purposes of this section, a premises licensed or permitted under the Alcoholic Beverage Code is a public place. And they don’t even have to test for alcohol. The word of the police is enough to convict.

    8. Deaths in the Bible. “God – 2,270,365 not including the victims of Noah’s flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, or the many plagues, famines, fiery serpents, etc because no specific numbers were given. Satan – 10.”

    Drivers Education…

Here in NSW, Australia to get a standard car drivers license, you need to pass the Drivers Knowledge Test, know as the DKT.  The following is from the Road Transport Authority’s website:

    What is the DKT?

The DKT is a computer-based road rules knowledge test. You have to answer 45 questions.

The computer selects the questions at random from a question bank of more than 600. You will first be asked 15 general knowledge questions and you need to get at least 12 correct. You will then be asked 30 road safety questions (including traffic signs) and you need to get at least 29 correct.

These are people, mostly teens, that are either still in school or just out.  They have been learning for quite a number of years and so should have the skills necessary to learn what is needed.  All well and good.  But, and it is a big but, why when this is a life or death situation, are they not having to achieve 100%?  I find this amazing.  RTA statistics:

There have been huge improvements in road safety over the past 25 years. The annual road toll in NSW has fallen from a high of 1384 in 1978 to 510 in 2004. The reduction in road deaths has occurred despite significant growth in population, vehicle numbers and kilometres  travelled.

Yet young people continue to be over-represented in road crash statistics.

When they are not being adequately educated it is not surprising.  I do not think the amount of proper education behind the wheel is of a sufficient standard.  When you learn to fly a plane you also have to learn about aerodynamics, ie how the plane handles under different atmospheric conditions etc.  These ‘teens’ should have to learn more about how cars handle under different conditions, motor sizes, power to weight ratios, so they have a better understanding of how to handle them in less than optimal conditions.  A proper understanding of the risks involved and the consequences would be an advantage as well.

Just having them recite answers to questions till they know them by heart without any real understanding behind it is not a proper way to treat our young.  The problems associated with young drivers is more our fault than theirs.  It is up to us as adults and parents to teach our young and yet we are letting them down.

I know that they would not want it to be harder for them to obtain a license, but good things aren’t always necessarily easy to come by.  Some of the best things take time and effort. This also makes them more aware of the responsibility being placed upon them.  Let’s stop throwing their lives away and start teaching them that a drivers license is a right that must be earned, not just given to them.  When talking to your children and/or politicians, make the point that this isn’t about cost or time, but about the lives of our young.  When are we going to stop putting prices on their lives?  Is $200 the amount you think it should cost to teach your child to drive?  If that $200 doesn’t give them the skills they need to drive safely, then it isn’t enough?  What amount is?  If we can name a figure, then we are caring less about them than the money it will cost us.

NO AMOUNT OF MONEY IS WORTH MORE THAN THEIR SAFETY

Why are Wooists so interested in what we do?

First I’d like to start with the exact opposite and say right up front that Atheists aren’t so much interested in what Wooists do or think as in stopping their disproportionate influence on society.  Why?  That takes us back to the original question.

It seems that Wooists have this overweaning attitude to everything that anybody who doesn’t believe in their skyfairy does.  What is it about our actions that so  intrigues them that it not just borders on voyeuristic, but goes way past that point?

You see, why I bring up this point is that we are forever hearing about people taking out court orders etc, to stop stalkers.  First, I want to get a decent understanding of that word.  Let’s not give anyone a reason to say this isn’t what they do. So here, is the meaning of stalk.

    1. To pursue by tracking stealthily.
    2. To follow or observe (a person) persistently, especially out of obsession or derangement.
    3. To go through (an area) in pursuit of prey or quarry.

Let’s take them one by one and see how they fit.

    1. To pursue by tracking stealthily.  When you think about how organised they are and the fashion in which JW, LDS and SDA go house by house, street by street, it would seem that they do have some kind of plan they work to.  They don’t let you know they are coming, they just turn up.  THAT sounds like stalking to me

    2. To follow or observe persistently, especially out of obsession or derangement.  Rather self explanatory.  How much more persistent can you be?  They never stop.  Also, because they keep coming back even after I’ve asked them not to, I’d call that obsessive too.

    3. To go through (an area) in pursuit of prey or quarry.  Well, that’s easily seen as stalking.  How many times have they knocked on your door?  How many times do they need to be told no, before they stop?  They keep coming back looking for converts.  We are their quarry.  They want to convert us.

It was alright for us to exist to some extent while we were being quiet about their activities, but since they’ve ramped it up to the point of influencing our governments, ripping us off with their tax exempt status and abusing our children with complete immunity, we have become outspoken and they don’t like it.

    1. Websites have been hit with DDOS attacks.
    2. Forums are invaded by wooists and we get abused, insulted and threatened.
    3. Try putting something about atheism on your car and see how long before it gets vandalised.
    4. Drive past a church and see how many of their signs are either insulting or threatening about us and our future.
    5. Try getting your son into the Scouts once they find out you are atheist or gay.
    6. Try getting into some churches when they find out you are gay.

Now they are influencing the internet by getting governments to install filters.  This is happening here in Australia at this very moment.  Once they get the filter up and running it’s only a matter of adding URL’s or words to the filter and bingo, sites just won’t appear.  When governments change, how do we know what the next one will add?

Church groups already influence the government censors.  Don’t kid yourselves that they aren’t on the committees that view the movies, listen to the cd’s and try out the newest computer games before any of them are allowed to be sold, played or viewed.

You have to ask though, if they are seeing all this bad stuff, how many of them have then gone out and shot somebody, raped someone, set fire to a building, stolen a car, murdered someone, robbed a bank?  That would seem to argue against their existence.

You will see signs on buses nearly everywhere you go extolling the virtues of religion or some particular religious group, but atheist signs are now too inflammatory.  Why is one inflammatory and the other not?  It’s just two opposing groups points of view.  If one can do it there is no reason to stop the other.

These things go on and on.  Religion can, but we mustn’t.  The strange thing is that we aren’t even in the minority here.  So why is it happening?  Because non-believers, secularists, humanists, atheist or whatever label you wish to use are not as outspoken.  We are becoming more so because our rights as equal citizens is being eroded day by day by wooists who think they have the g-d given right to rule.

So what we have are ‘believers’ who have insinuated themselves into government in such a way as to influence policy and they think that is their right. You also have non-believers who have had enough and are speaking up about it.  Now the ‘believers’ are unhappy and say we should keep out of it because they know better than us.  Why?  Because their little book of woo tells them so.

I’m sorry, but I thought we run our country based on it’s constitution and the laws we lay down around it.  None of them are entitled ‘little book of woo’.  It really is time my friends for the idea of ‘not talking about religion’ to end.  They have had their chance and have been found lacking.  Remove their religious influence and get back to running this country for everyone including those who don’t believe, those less fortunate and those without a large mouth backed by church groups and not the ideas of some Zombie from 2000 years ago.

If they thought they could get away with it, some of these Christian fundies would probably go back to torturing people and burning them alive. They're disgusting.

What have I learned as I was bringing up my kids?

The very first thing I found was that to learn about them I had to look at them. – Open eyes

Second was to listen to them so they could tell me what was wrong with them or what they needed. – Open ears

Thirdly, I learned that I couldn’t do those first two things if I had already made up my mind what was happening. – Open mind

Most of what I learned about how to bring up a child, was taught to me by my children.

Another very important thing is that after your first child, don’t be so foolish as to think you know it all.  Believe me, kids two, three, four, right up to nineteen if your name is Duggar, can all teach you something new.

Then, to teach them things, I had to not only teach them those same things, but to make those things my life.  Children won’t learn properly from being preached to by someone who doesn’t practice what they preach.  They are wonderful little logic machines and need to be treated as such.  If they see you doing the opposite of what you tell them to do, you’ll only have taught them to do those same things, but behind your back.  As well as learning that, they will also learn that you can’t be trusted, or respected.

While a child will automatically give you love, trust and respect from the moment they are capable, it won’t happen unless you have earned it.  And don’t ever for one moment think that once you have it that it is there forever.  It is only too easy to break that bond between you and lose them.

Honesty, Trust, Truth, Love, Kindness, Generosity and Respect are all two way streets.  If you live your life in a one way street, so will your children and you’ll never connect.

It is amazing how such a small and innocent package can have so much to share if you are ready to receive it.  If you start with a fully fleshed out plan for their upbringing I can guarantee you, it will not end well unless you change, so be flexible.

Will any of what I said guarantee success? No, it won’t.  Why?  Because your kids aren’t my kids.  I was lucky to have three very wonderful children that I know have learned the lessons I taught them  That is not to say that they haven’t gone their own ways and lived their own lives.  Not always successfully.  They will make mistakes.  I can’t tell you how many times they broke my heart, but very soon after, made me proud because they learned from their mistakes.  They will always stumble if given the chance.  But that is what life is about.  Stumble, fall, crash, get back up and learn from it.  Most great advances in our civilisation are built upon the failures preceding them.  We have always learned in this manner.  Children are no different, so if your kids make mistakes, don’t come down on them all angry and upset.  Leave that for the  third time they make the same mistake.  The first two times, you talk to them, love them, show them you are there for them.  Most of the time, if you have done your job properly, they learn and don’t do it again.

I’d much rather my kids had made their mistakes too.  I would hate to think they didn’t have those memories and the skills they learned from those experiences.  They are more valuable than you can imagine.  A lot of other things I taught my children were about my mistakes and being honest about the consequences and how it all affected me.  I’m a better person for it and I can only hope they are too.  This way, they get to pass on this knowledge.

Treat them like human beings.  We’re fallible.  So are they so be patient.  It will all pay you back in years to come when you see them being better parents than you are now.

That is one of the things I have told them all through our lives together and sometimes remind them about to this day.

“I have made mistakes in my life and have made more while bringing you up.  I am not perfect, but I have done the best I could with the knowledge I had.  Your job is to do better and pass that on to your children.  If we continue this way, how much better can life be for those to come?”

TREAT LIFE LIKE A RELAY RACE AND PASS ON YOUR BEST

I am not an advice columnist, but just this once…

I was asked today for some advice.  While I don’t normally give out advice as I don’t feel it’s my place, this isn’t quite a personal thing, so I’ll answer it here.

I am drinking and pissed off so I need to see what you think of this shit!!!

First thing, if you’re pissed off, stop drinking.  Those two are a problem waiting happen.  Wait till you are happy then have a drink.

One thing has always pissed me off, and that is the religious fairytale we had shoved down our throats.

Truth should only have to be imparted with love and respect and it will be believed.  If someone is ‘shoving’, I’d be asking why.

The truth will set you free. Bullshit will keep you in the dark ages. For years, decades even, I lived under the constant fear and anxiety that the big, jealous, angry “skydaddy” had a big club over my head and would beat and torture me with flames if I didn’t jump to his every whim. Not only was I going to be tortured but also 90% of all the puny humans would be tortured endlessy unders gods cup of wrath to be poured out in full fury. We are all evil and we should all burn in hell because we deserve it because adam ate a peice of fruit. We should go groveling on our knees patheticly begging jesus to save our black wicked souls so we could sit bowing and praising jesus in heaven forever while 90% or earth’s folks would be writhing in intense and endless agony in hell.

    You mean like this:

What a sick and demented religion! I believe christianity is nothing more then evil mind control over the masses to keep humans dumbed down and in their subserviant places. The only people who believe such rubbish are those who are superstitious and lacking in proper education.

While I agree with most of this, not all of them are lacking in a proper education.  This may not seem to make sense, but even with an education you can still believe in woo if you fall into the traps set for you.  There are those that are lacking in self esteem and will fall hard when shown ‘the love of Jebus’.  It’s a support network that they may not have had outside of the church or have left behind and don’t have in their new life elsewhere.  How many people move house only to find themselves without friends or family.  If you’ve had it good, losing it can make life seem very empty.

Christians tend to cherry pick the “good” verses and ignore all the “bad” verses to make their archaic, blundering fairytales functional for living with. My brain was too intelligent and logical to buy into such wicked, twisted bullshit but I couldn’t shake the fear of hell till recently….

Something that has become so fully a part of your belief system is never gotten rid of overnight.  It can take months to years before all the last vestiges can be rooted out.  Some people find bits still hiding away much later in life without them ever having known they were there.  I still hear people say ‘amen to that’ who are no longer believers.  It’s just habit.  Don’t beat yourself up over any of it though, because your anger only gives it more power.  Ignore the still shit and let it die a natural death.  It’s kind of like have a song stuck in your head.  You can’t get rid of it by trying.  Just taking your mind of it and doing something else is the best way.

SEE WOO, SEE WOO FOR WHAT IT IS, SEE WOO RUN

If God doesn’t want us to be atheist, why is it an option?

I read an article on my local papers website today by a wooist that said, and I’m paraphrasing here, “Even atheists morals come from god, as does their love, even if they don’t know it.”

Let’s take this at face value for a moment.  If that is so, then doesn’t it also mean that nothing we do is of our own choosing?  Not one damned thing that I think, do, say, smell, kill or touch has anything to do with my own free will.  I’ve heard this argument so many times when they are looking for that rabbit to pull out of their arse.

The worst part is that they argue against themselves every time they open their mouths with this bullshit.  Listen up Tards.  We either DO or DO NOT have freewill.  So for shit sake, make a list of what is and is not free will and stick to it.  One minute we’re getting told we can’t love because we don’t believe in the sky fairy and the next we get told we do love, but it’s because of the sky fairy.

So, if he has all this power to control every aspect of our lives, you have to ask the original question as well.  My opinion is always that there is no god.  But if you want to believe in him/her/it/sicko, then you have to ask why are there atheists?

There either is NO SKY FAIRY, or he’s a sicko.  What omnipotent, omniscient, all loving god would stuff us around they way he does?  Please, for once, just bloody once, will you morons explain why your all loving, merciful god allows children to be raped by his purple army?  He is supposed to have the power.  Why doesn’t he use it?

Hundreds of thousands if not hundreds of millions of children, raped, mutilated, killed, left for dead, diseased, starving all at the hands of a god that could prevent it.

Do we have to paint it in twenty metre high, glow in the dark, capital letters and put it outside every one of your houses before you’ll get over yourselves and come clean on why you allow this in the name of your skyfairy?

Don’t tell me you can’t do anything about it.  Your the religious one.  Speak to your god and ask him to stop this.

    1. If you already have and he isn’t doing it, would you mind explaining how you can follow such a sick bastard?
    2. If you haven’t already asked, would you mind telling me why you don’t care about the kids?
    3. Oh you do care? Then why haven’t you asked?
    4. Oh you have asked?  See 1.

Either he doesn’t care and you shouldn’t follow him or there is no god.  Either way, letting it happen means he/she/it doesn’t deserve to be called a god.

Aren’t these the actions you would and should ascribe to evil?

    Priests raping Nuns…

Juicy little title I have there huh?  You think it may be a teaser just to get you in to read something totally different? WRONG!

It really happened and is probably still happening right now. The Vatican knows about it.  They’ve known about it for a long time too.  They must have because it’s been happening in 23 countries around the world that we know about.

Priests have been sexually abusing and raping Nuns in what seems to be just another aberration to the Vatican.  Otherwise, why would they not have done something more serious about it before now?  I suppose it’s on the agenda somewhere below the ‘priests raping little boys’ item.  We should just trust them to do something about it in their own good time.  Which is exactly what would happen if we don’t keep talking about this shameful situation right up until they have fixed it and paid penance of their own.  But a penance set down for them by someone other than themselves.

So, some details.  It seems that in Africa the priests were seeking out prostitutes to have sex with, but with the advent of Aids, they have gone to the Nuns so they can stop having to worry about contracting the virus themselves.  Isn’t that so noble?  Leaked papers obtained by The National Catholic Reporter show that this has been an ongoing problem for some years.

In less problematic cases Nuns have been forced to have sex with priests to gain transfers to a diocese of their choice.  In worse cases of abuse of Nuns they have even been encouraged to have abortions after being made pregnant by the priests.  These leaked reports are not made up from word of mouth either, they come from reports sent to the Vatican by senior women of religious orders and priests themselves.  There is a rather bad problem in Africa in that Nuns and adolescent girls are being seen to be the safest partners for the priests. In a continent where females are taught to be subservient to males more than nearly anywhere else in the world, it is hard for them to stop the abuse.  Nobody would listen to them or believe them if they did.  Afterwards, to save their own hides, the priests are transferring the nuns or removing them from the order.  This leaves them little option, as their families do not want anything to do with them.  The shame would be too great.  These poor girls usually have to end up supporting themselves via prostitution, something they would never have even imagined if not for the abuse by priests.

Novice Nuns need what we would normally call a ‘reference’ so that they can advance and follow their vocation.  These papers are being traded for sex.

In one case where an abortion was performed on a Nun who died during the procedure, the Priest who got her pregnant actually led her funeral mass.

I don’t wish to go further into this as it’s enough to have shown you the facts presented so far.  What needs to happen is for the Vatican to grow a pair.  How many hundreds of eunuchs must they have within those walls to care so little about what happens to people just because they live so far away.  You don’t believe me?  The following is a statement issued by the Pope’s official spokesman, Joaquin Navarro Valls.

“The problem is known and involves a restricted geographical area. Certain negative situations must not overshadow the often heroic faith of the overwhelming majority of religious, nuns and priests”.

This is a sickening situation that must be stopped.  But I have been saying that about many other areas of religion lately and I don’t see one bit of movement by the Vatican other than talk.

It’s a problem of faith they say.  We’ll think about it.  We’ll talk to other priests about it.

No, it’s about time civil authorities stepped in and put these bastards in jail where they belong.  Show me where it says that priests get to stick it to boys, girls, Nuns and housekeepers (yes, them too) and have total immunity from prosecution?

Here, go read the full article if you can stomach more of this.  I can’t. Vatican Confirms Report.

And if you have read that well, you’d know that it was a report from 2001. Guess what? Haven’t heard a thing about what they did to fix it since. Doesn’t surprise me. I’m sorry if I sound cynical, but I’ve heard this all before. It’s been going on forever and a day and nothing has been done to stop the atrocities. Band-aid fixes are just that. A cover up. That is all we get. Meanwhile lives are destroyed.

If I was reporting on murders with any amount of facts and leads to back them up like I have with this problem, what do you think would happen?  Someone would be in jail.  In the US, maybe even on deathrow or dead by now.  But we’re talking about the Catholic Church.

SAY IT WITH ME, ‘ABOVE THE LAW’

    What good do religions do?

Financial support. How much financial support do they really give?  Considering their income it seems to be that the good side of this is only so they can stick their hand up and say “Hey, look at us, we’re sooooo good”.  If you are given $1 million to do good works with but only use $10 of that money, is that really a good thing you’re doing?

Education. This is true also, but when it is held up to the light of day and weighed against the problems in the schools caused by the priests having too much authority over the children, especially the boys it become a little less black and white.  The schools have become a way for the pedophiles to get close to their targets and with the blessing of the parents.  This goes for church run recreation centres as well.  Yes, I know there are a lot of people doing good work out there, but that does not negate the problems faced by others.  Our courts are run in a way that we are not supposed to put innocent people in jail even if it means the guilty may go free.  So we protect adults even at the expense of having criminals running around.  Why are we not protecting our children to the same extent?  As a parent are you willing to allow someone to rape them so that 5000 other children can play basketball?  Or is it ok just so long as it’s only 1/5000 odds against it being your child?  If you know it’s going to happen, is it alright by you that it’s someone elses child and not yours?  Where do we draw the line?

Missionary Work. Well yes, they do this don’t they.  But is it necessary or is it just the religions trying to bolster their numbers?  What good does it actually do?  And please, telling me you are bringing the ‘word of god’ to them isn’t telling me jack.  I’m asking for verifiable good being brought to their existence.  If you can build them a house, just fine.  Has it really helped them make a better life?  Or is it just a house that will make someone else jealous and have them thrown out of so they can move in?  Not all the gifts you give are of benefit.  Built wells for water?  Now there is a benefit.  As long as it isn’t with the proviso they learn all about Jesus and give themselves up to your tender care.  One shouldn’t be dependent on the other.  Oh, and look at Uganda.  Wonderful bit of missionary work going on there.  Religious missionaries are now responsible for a massive loss of life after telling everyone that it is bad to be homosexual.  They are killing them all.  They are even making laws to permit this atrocity they learned about from American Missionaries.  None of these morons should be allowed to go on missionary work without stating the things they are going to be teaching.  Their should be strict guidelines put in place to stop this kind of atrocious behaviour.  It’s not much good crying later that you didn’t mean it.  Tell that to the dead.

Making Saints. So? The latest elevation to Sainthood was Mother Mary McKillop of Australia.  The Vatican have looked into the so-called miracles she performed ‘since her death’ and have agreed that they are worthy miracly.  Or is that miracley?  I can never keep up with the new words everyone keeps coming up with.  But, back to Mary.  She was excommunicated.  Then un-excommunicated.  Or is that de-excommunicated or dis-excommunicated?  They really do confuse me.  So what did she do that has enough meaning to the Vatican that she should become a saint?

But cop an earful of this…

“It’s more than just Catholics, the whole country has a new hero — someone that will give them hope for the future,” said Garry McLean, CEO of the Mary MacKillop Heritage Center in Melbourne.

The whole country?  Isn’t that a bit presumptuous Garry?  I don’t give a tinker’s cuss if she becomes a saint.  There are many more people in this country that are much more deserving of being a hero than some dead woman that has fairy tales told about her.  Miracles my arse.  The second miracle is some woman from Australia that may have had cancer and prayed to Mary and now she doesn’t have cancer.  Where’s the proof? Did she bother helping eradicate cancer by giving the research doctors some of her blood so that others may be saved? NO.  Nice person you are.  Also, why would anyone think that someone who was supposedly so nice as Mary would help just two people when they have the power to help so many more.   Is not a child more worthy of having their life saved than some middle aged story teller that doesn’t have the decency to help others?  She may have the cure for a whole range of cancers within her.  But does she think of that or is all she cares about is the fame that comes with the fairy story?  I know my opinion.  Saint making is nothing more than a PR exercise meant to keep the faithful faithful, to keep them praying so that they may have a chance at the miracle lottery themselves.  How low can you get.  Tell fairy stories and give people false hope just to get them to stay in line, under your oppressive thumbs and giving up what precious little resources they have so Mr Fancy Hat can live in style with his Celibate Army (don’t ask, don’t tell) following him around.

Marital Counselling. Yeah, right.  Tell me something will you.  What do xtian women think about sex?  Or more to the point, what does the bible tell them to think about sex?  If they are teaching women those things, I’d be very worried.  On the other side, what does the bible tell men about sex?  What does it tell them about how to treat the females in their family?

How do you teach couples about relationships when the bible is teaching things like incest?

Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father. Genesis 19:32

And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose. Genesis 19:33

Caring for the Innocent. You’d think that someone would not have to pay for the sins of someone else.  Not even their father.  How about for ten generations?  How can anyone go to the church expecting help when you see these passages?

He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD. A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the LORD. Deuteronomy 23:1-2

Youth Groups. They sound good don’t they.  How about when they get taught that the above are all fine.  What about when they get taught that it’s ok to kill fags?  When they get told that people of different colour are for their use as slaves?  Oh, but they’ll show you the passages that say this isn’t true.  Oh, but I can show you the ones that says it is? Yada yada yada, blah, blah, blah.  The good ones only ever seem to come out when you need to attempt and prove how good religion is.  Other times you live by the ‘word’ of god.

I know, I know, they aren’t all like that and I have never said they were.  I know they aren’t.  I do know that some are though. So once again I ask, where do we draw the line?  When do the  scales balance?  Does anyone or any other group get the leeway handed out to religion?  Would a secular group get away with pedophilia if it was only 50% of them committing that particular crime?  40% ???   20% ???  Let’s go as low as 1%.  If a group of 100 secular youth workers had one person in their midst that hurt a xtian child in this manner what would happen?  Would they be allowed to transfer that person to another group in another town with yet another chance to hurt another xtian child?  Anyone else outside the church gets the handcuffs slapped on them and an all expense paid holiday courtesy of the taxpayer and a chance to become Bubba’s Bitch.  What is the difference?  Why is this still happening?  Why do you turn your backs on your own children?  Can you really turn to them afterwards and say that it’s alright to be molested by a priest because he believes in god?  Is that all it takes for you to turn your child over to these freaks?

Charity work. No different from the financial support mentioned earlier.  They are taking money from your pockets and using a ‘little’ bit of it to do good work in the name of religion.  So what?  A lot of that money you donate freely and a lot of the money you donate without even knowing it is not going to charity.  Look at the businesses being run by religions these days.  Check out how much money they make.  They don’t need yours.  They are getting your money anyway when they don’t pay taxes.

Religions doing political lobbying. Legally, they aren’t allowed to do this.  So why are they still getting away with it?  How many laws are being passed lately that have the backing of religious groups?  Of course you don’t see XXX Church doing it.  You don’t see BBB Church doing it.  You do see groups calling themselves something like the Xtian Lobby Group.  That way they aren’t a church that can be pointed to.  Wake up people.  It’s still a religious group and every church that the members of the Xtian Lobby Group belong to should have their tax exempt status removed.  Permanently, because they knowingly broke the law.  Any lobby group should have to state their political, corporate and religious affiliations before being allowed to lobby.  We should know who is helping to formulate laws in our country.  If the politicians would be too ashamed of themselves if we knew who they were taking advice from, then they shouldn’t be taking that advice from those people.

This could go on and on, but I’m tired.  I’ve said all this before.  If you have read it before, have you done anything about it?  Have you told somebody else so that their eyes are opened?  If you haven’t read it before, now that you have, what are you going to do?  Nothing will be changed unless we make ourselves heard.  Write a blog, write emails, letters, ring the local radio stations, talk to your politicians.  Go. Now.  Or at least tomorrow when the sun comes up.  But do something.

FOR YOUR OWN SAKE, SPEAK UP

    Should Religions pay taxes?

To be blunt, yes.  They most certainly should.  They may use some of the money for charity, but not all, so the most they should claim is a tax deduction from those charitable expenses.  The rest is fair game.  Any other business has to pay and as they are competing in the market place it gives them an unfair advantage.  Other peoples businesses go to the wall while so called charities are fleecing the public and not even paying for the ride.

    Where is the money going?

    1. Land (for the church)
    2. Building (if the land doesn’t already have one)
    3. Furnish said building (gotta have all the finery and statues/art etc)
    4. Car for the minister/pastor/reverend/priest/shaman/witchdoctor
    5. Wine (for communion)
    6. Wafers (for communion)
    7. Overseas Trips (for conventions and meeting other fakirs)
    8. Fancy Clothes (purple satin ain’t cheap ya know)
    9. And a lot does up the line to the parent church/religion

Business Review Weekly found that religions in Australia were raking in over $26bn while not paying GST, income tax, fringe benefits tax, land tax, stamp duty, payroll tax, car registration or property rates.

That figure has probably blown out to around $30bn by now (2010) and when we are being taxed as much as we are, I see this as robbery.  State sanctioned robbery.  That money doesn’t just come from the donations made on Sundays by their believers.  When they don’t pay tax it is coming out of our pockets as well.  Let them buy the land, buildings, art etc if they want.  But not tax free.  If they want a tax break, fine.  Give them the same as we get.  Tax deductions on anything that really is going towards charity over $2.

Oh, if you think your money you donate to churches isn’t going overseas, think again.  For example, do you think the vatican got everything it has from Italy alone?  Think for yourselves for a change and stop believing the crap they are feeding you.  Money on the plate doesn’t flow down.  It flows up with a small amount being diverted for so called charity work.  How much of that $23bn I spoke about earlier do you think really goes to charity?  If it was even half that amount, don’t you think we’d hear about it?  They’d be crowing from the rooftops if that were so.

Oh, just a little bit of information for you to chew over.  Have you ever bought breakfast foods from Sanitarium?  Guess what?  You just made a donation to a religion.  The Seventh Day Adventists own that and they don’t pay taxes.  So other companies in that market are playing on a very uneven field.  Doesn’t sound fair either does it.

It’s about time rules were laid down to make things fair for everyone.  This is 2010 people.  No government has the right to make unfair laws.  How much less tax would John and Jane Citizen being paying if the religions paid their way?  Would it be enough to have helped pay off their house they lost last year when the banks foreclosed?  Would they still have a house and their dignity?  Maybe not all of them, but a lot would have.  And whose fault is it they these people are losing everything they worked hard for?  Governments and Religions.

I urge everyone to speak up.  Especially now when things are tough.  It could save everything you have from being taken and auctioned while you and your children are thrown onto the streets.  That doesn’t sound like a very charitable thing to be happening does it?  That is what religion is causing to people every day.  EVERY BLOODY DAY!

SPEAK UP AND MAKE THEM PAY UP!!!

    The Bible makes sense! NOT!!

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. Genesis 1:27

God must be kinda freaky looking then.  He has breasts, a penis AND a vagina.  Kinky bugger.

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Matthew 25:40

Just to clarify here, it is King as in God as in Kingdom of God.  So whatever I have done to another I have done unto him?  Hmm?  Knowing that he made us to procreate, it seems a rather kinky thing to do.  Freaking Pervert!!!  Each to their own I suppose.

For those who think I may be being a little perverse myself by using that analogy, I give you this little gem.

Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. Matthew 25:1
And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Matthew 25:2
They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: Matthew 25:3
But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. Matthew 25:4
While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. Matthew 25:5
And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. Matthew 25:6
Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. Matthew 25:7
And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. Matthew 25:8
But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. Matthew 25:9
And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. Matthew 25:10
Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. Matthew 25:11
But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. Matthew 25:12

I don’t feel so perverse anymore.  It seems I might have been made in his image, but it doesn’t say much for his morals.  Why does he have to use virgins to make his point?  Freaking Pervert!

And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ. Matthew 1:16

Are we sure he’s really Christ? Hmmmm?

Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Matthew 1:23

So who is he?  Jesus, Christ or Emmanuel?  Did we get the right one?  Maybe our saviour is the imposter.

But you might want to believe him anyway, because this guy isn’t playing games you know.

But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. Matthew 10:33-34

Also, considering that there were over 60 chroniclers around between Jesus’ birth and 100AD, how come none of them ever mention the sun disappearing for hours or all male children 2 years and under being put to death? There are many instances like this that are not told by anybody else whose writings survive to this day.  Not only is the bible not to be taken seriously, it is full of crap.

Edit: Found this a few days later and decided it would fit well with this blog, so added the video.  Thanks to TheThinkingAtheist.
