Ruth: The Post Mortem
Ruth: What was it all about?
Long story short, a man took his wife and two sons to live elsewhere while there was famine in the land. The boys married women from the new land and then the husband and the boys died. Mum decides to go back home and after leaving tells the girls to go back home. One does, one doesn’t. The one that doesn’t goes all the way back to Mum’s place and lives with her there. She goes out to find food, but somehow manages to get herself hitched to a family protector and has a kid. End Story.
Ok. So?
The stories we’ve read so far have been quite barbaric and vile. This one is devoid of that horror, but does continue the misogyny we’ve seen previously. Other than that, it is a bland and boring story with nothing to recommend it. I give it a -1.
