Psalm 76: I don’t believe in monsters under my bed. Do you?
Psalms Part 76 of 150
For the Chief Musician. On stringed instruments. A Psalm by Asaph. A song.
1 In Judah, God is known.
Know by name because the name has been told to everybody. He is not known by deed or misdeed. Just hearsay.
His name is great in Israel.
No greater than the lowest person on the planet. An name means nothing though.
2 His tabernacle is also in Salem;
His dwelling place in Zion.
His dwelling place is in the minds of the religiously delusional.
3 There he broke the flaming arrows of the bow,
the shield, and the sword, and the weapons of war.
Selah.
Figments of the imagination can’t break anything except for the record for being the bigger foolish belief.
4 Glorious are you, and excellent,
more than mountains of game.
There are no mountains of game, so your statement means nothing.
5 Valiant men lie plundered,
they have slept their last sleep.
None of the men of war can lift their hands.
Or their heads if they went to war in the name of Gawd.
6 At your rebuke, God of Jacob,
both chariot and horse are cast into a deep sleep.
How can a chariot, an inanimate object be cast into a deep sleep or any kind of sleep for that matter?
7 You, even you, are to be feared.
Who can stand in your sight when you are angry?
Anybody. Angry nothing is still nothing.
8 You pronounced judgment from heaven.
What heaven? Nobody has ever come back from heaven to be able to prove such a place exists.
The earth feared, and was silent,
Again, inanimate objects don’t feel, sleep, breathe, sigh or laugh. Give up these childish beliefs.
9 when God arose to judgment,
to save all the afflicted ones of the earth.
Selah.
It’s quite proven that never happened. If it had, there would be writings about it in all kinds of history books instead of one fairy story.
10 Surely the wrath of man praises you.
The survivors of your wrath are restrained.
You don’t have to survive an event that never happened.
11 Make vows to Yahweh your God, and fulfill them!
Let all of his neighbors bring presents to him who is to be feared.
A ploy by the priesthood to garner gifts and power.
12 He will cut off the spirit of princes.
He is feared by the kings of the earth.
He is only feared by those scared of monsters under their beds. The rest of us grew up.
