    There must come a time…

One day, sometime in the future, change will begin. Change for the better. It will either be by people rising up and demanding change from their leaders, or a leader with real vision to speak up in the face of opposition from those who would advocate the status quo for their own gain. It could happen now, but it is unlikely. I don’t see the inherent idealism in those who have the power that would be needed to make the necessary changes. In some countries, maybe most, it would be political suicide to even speak openly to colleagues about such thoughts.

Take a few moments for yourself and try to think of what these changes would need to be. What could one person, a leader, do or say that could begin to cement in place irreversible changes to put this planet on the right track for the future? I’m talking about real change, not the Cardboard Castle we know as the United Nations. The last thing we need to is have the UN pulled apart only to recreate it under another name in another place.

So, what words could be said that would start the ball rolling in the ‘right direction’?

    Are you a conforming animal?

Do you consider yourself a discriminating person? By that I mean, do you think about the choices you make and make the right ones for yourself and not just follow herd mentality?  I have a sneaking suspicion that even the best of us fail at this in many more ways that we’d be comfortable knowing about.  Let’s look at a few.

    Do you eat meat?

Do you go ‘oh how awful’ when you see a starving African child on television and then start laughing as soon as Seinfeld comes back on?

Do you drive a petroleum burning automobile?

If you have the ability or means to go solar or wind power, do you still use coal or nuclear generated electricity?

Do you still buy paper based books or ebooks?

Do you drive to work or use the public transport system or a bicycle?

I think you get my drift by now.  What I’m getting at here is that unless you fully live the ‘ideals’ or absolutely do not believe in them, then you do conform to at least some part of the herd mentality.  Have you ever taken the time to think about what you’re stance is on this subject is or do you just go along with the flow till it starts to get really uncomfortable for you and then back off?  When you back off, do you just stand there on your own or with others who have backed off? If you back off, do you say something about it and try to get others to understand and live a more ideal lifestyle?

Shouldn’t governments be the driving force behind the move to an ideal civilisation? Probably. Why aren’t they? Because we don’t push them to do so. Why not? Because we are all sheep to one extent or another.
