    Leviticus 9: Laws and Rituals of the Covenant 

    Leviticus: Part 9 of 27

    The Priests Begin Their Ministry

    1 On the eighth day Moses summoned Aaron and his sons and the elders of Israel.

    2 He said to Aaron, “Take a bull calf for your sin offering and a ram for your burnt offering, both without defect, and present them before the LORD.

    Yeah, why not.  Just keep killing everything in sight till there is nothing left.  I can’t believe the fascination they have with killing everything.

    3 Then say to the Israelites: ‘Take a male goat for a sin offering, a calf and a lamb—both a year old and without defect—for a burnt offering,

    Kill.

    4 and an ox and a ram for a fellowship offering to sacrifice before the LORD, together with a grain offering mixed with oil. For today the LORD will appear to you.’ ”

    Kill.

    5 They took the things Moses commanded to the front of the Tent of Meeting, and the entire assembly came near and stood before the LORD.

    6 Then Moses said, “This is what the LORD has commanded you to do, so that the glory of the LORD may appear to you.”

    7 Moses said to Aaron, “Come to the altar and sacrifice your sin offering and your burnt offering and make atonement for yourself and the people; sacrifice the offering that is for the people and make atonement for them, as the LORD has commanded.”

    Kill.

    8 So Aaron came to the altar and slaughtered the calf as a sin offering for himself.

    Kill.

    9 His sons brought the blood to him, and he dipped his finger into the blood and put it on the horns of the altar; the rest of the blood he poured out at the base of the altar.

    10 On the altar he burned the fat, the kidneys and the covering of the liver from the sin offering, as the LORD commanded Moses;

    11 the flesh and the hide he burned up outside the camp.

    I thought the hide of any offering belonged to the priest the offering was given to?

    12 Then he slaughtered the burnt offering. His sons handed him the blood, and he sprinkled it against the altar on all sides.

    Kill.

    13 They handed him the burnt offering piece by piece, including the head, and he burned them on the altar.

    14 He washed the inner parts and the legs and burned them on top of the burnt offering on the altar.

    15 Aaron then brought the offering that was for the people. He took the goat for the people’s sin offering and slaughtered it and offered it for a sin offering as he did with the first one.

    Kill.

    16 He brought the burnt offering and offered it in the prescribed way.

    17 He also brought the grain offering, took a handful of it and burned it on the altar in addition to the morning’s burnt offering.

    18 He slaughtered the ox and the ram as the fellowship offering for the people. His sons handed him the blood, and he sprinkled it against the altar on all sides.

    Kill.

    19 But the fat portions of the ox and the ram—the fat tail, the layer of fat, the kidneys and the covering of the liver-

    20 these they laid on the breasts, and then Aaron burned the fat on the altar.

    21 Aaron waved the breasts and the right thigh before the LORD as a wave offering, as Moses commanded.

    22 Then Aaron lifted his hands toward the people and blessed them. And having sacrificed the sin offering, the burnt offering and the fellowship offering, he stepped down.

    Kill.

    23 Moses and Aaron then went into the Tent of Meeting. When they came out, they blessed the people; and the glory of the LORD appeared to all the people.

    24 Fire came out from the presence of the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the fat portions on the altar. And when all the people saw it, they shouted for joy and fell facedown.

    What is he?  A dragon?  A fart lighter?  This is ridiculous.  Please people, read this book as if you knew nothing about it and think for yourselves for once in your life.  This is nothing but superstitious tripe.

    Leviticus: Part 8 of 27

    The Ordination of Aaron and His Sons

    Before I even read this section, I’m going to predict that it is nothing other than self aggrandising crap for a bunch of power hungry morons who only care about taking as much as they can get with as little effort as is humanly possible.

    1 The LORD said to Moses,

    Why doesn’t he use smoke signals, just for a change.

    2 “Bring Aaron and his sons, their garments, the anointing oil, the bull for the sin offering, the two rams and the basket containing bread made without yeast,

    3 and gather the entire assembly at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.”

    Entire Assembly?  Just the priests or all the Israelites?  Hundreds of thousands of them?  Yeah, sure thing!

    4 Moses did as the LORD commanded him, and the assembly gathered at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.

    5 Moses said to the assembly, “This is what the LORD has commanded to be done.”

    6 Then Moses brought Aaron and his sons forward and washed them with water.

    7 He put the tunic on Aaron, tied the sash around him, clothed him with the robe and put the ephod on him. He also tied the ephod to him by its skillfully woven waistband; so it was fastened on him.

    Moses would have done better to teach them how to dress themselves.

    8 He placed the breastpiece on him and put the Urim and Thummim in the breastpiece.

    9 Then he placed the turban on Aaron’s head and set the gold plate, the sacred diadem, on the front of it, as the LORD commanded Moses.

    10 Then Moses took the anointing oil and anointed the tabernacle and everything in it, and so consecrated them.

    11 He sprinkled some of the oil on the altar seven times, anointing the altar and all its utensils and the basin with its stand, to consecrate them.

    12 He poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron’s head and anointed him to consecrate him.

    13 Then he brought Aaron’s sons forward, put tunics on them, tied sashes around them and put headbands on them, as the LORD commanded Moses.

    14 He then presented the bull for the sin offering, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head.

    15 Moses slaughtered the bull and took some of the blood, and with his finger he put it on all the horns of the altar to purify the altar. He poured out the rest of the blood at the base of the altar. So he consecrated it to make atonement for it.

    The floor must be quite wet and slippery from all the blood.

    16 Moses also took all the fat around the inner parts, the covering of the liver, and both kidneys and their fat, and burned it on the altar.

    17 But the bull with its hide and its flesh and its offal he burned up outside the camp, as the LORD commanded Moses.

    18 He then presented the ram for the burnt offering, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head.

    19 Then Moses slaughtered the ram and sprinkled the blood against the altar on all sides.

    20 He cut the ram into pieces and burned the head, the pieces and the fat.

    21 He washed the inner parts and the legs with water and burned the whole ram on the altar as a burnt offering, a pleasing aroma, an offering made to the LORD by fire, as the LORD commanded Moses.

    22 He then presented the other ram, the ram for the ordination, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head.

    23 Moses slaughtered the ram and took some of its blood and put it on the lobe of Aaron’s right ear, on the thumb of his right hand and on the big toe of his right foot.

    24 Moses also brought Aaron’s sons forward and put some of the blood on the lobes of their right ears, on the thumbs of their right hands and on the big toes of their right feet. Then he sprinkled blood against the altar on all sides.

    25 He took the fat, the fat tail, all the fat around the inner parts, the covering of the liver, both kidneys and their fat and the right thigh.

    26 Then from the basket of bread made without yeast, which was before the LORD, he took a cake of bread, and one made with oil, and a wafer; he put these on the fat portions and on the right thigh.

    27 He put all these in the hands of Aaron and his sons and waved them before the LORD as a wave offering.

    Waving bits of meat around.  Why?  I don’t care that the bible says God wants it that way, I want to know why.  It’s no good just saying that God works in mysterious ways.  That is just a cop out.  It’s also the reason why you have to have faith.  It’s the only way people can justify believing in such rubbish.

    28 Then Moses took them from their hands and burned them on the altar on top of the burnt offering as an ordination offering, a pleasing aroma, an offering made to the LORD by fire.

    29 He also took the breast—Moses’ share of the ordination ram—and waved it before the LORD as a wave offering, as the LORD commanded Moses.

    If you’re reading this, I hope you are picturing in your mind what this must look like.

    30 Then Moses took some of the anointing oil and some of the blood from the altar and sprinkled them on Aaron and his garments and on his sons and their garments. So he consecrated Aaron and his garments and his sons and their garments.

    31 Moses then said to Aaron and his sons, “Cook the meat at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting and eat it there with the bread from the basket of ordination offerings, as I commanded, saying, ‘Aaron and his sons are to eat it.’

    32 Then burn up the rest of the meat and the bread.

    Yeah, burn it.  Burn it right in front of the people that gave it to you.  Show them just how wasteful you are.  Show them what you do with the fruits of their hard labour.

    33 Do not leave the entrance to the Tent of Meeting for seven days, until the days of your ordination are completed, for your ordination will last seven days.

    Just sit there in the blood and guts that fell from the slaughtered animals and your own excrement.  Sit there and fester.  Let the people who pass by see what you have become.

    34 What has been done today was commanded by the LORD to make atonement for you.

    35 You must stay at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting day and night for seven days and do what the LORD requires, so you will not die; for that is what I have been commanded.”

    36 So Aaron and his sons did everything the LORD commanded through Moses.

    If he told you to pick your nose and hop on one leg while spitting at the people, would you?  Moronic piece of crap.

    Leviticus: Part 7 of 27

    The Guilt Offering

    1 ” ‘These are the regulations for the guilt offering, which is most holy:

    2 The guilt offering is to be slaughtered in the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered, and its blood is to be sprinkled against the altar on all sides.

    Close your eyes and imagine what the sides of the altar look like now.  Imagine the smell.  Imagine the bacteria.  Imagine the diseases.

    3 All its fat shall be offered: the fat tail and the fat that covers the inner parts,

    4 both kidneys with the fat on them near the loins, and the covering of the liver, which is to be removed with the kidneys.

    5 The priest shall burn them on the altar as an offering made to the LORD by fire. It is a guilt offering.

    Why a guilt offering?  Please explain.

    6 Any male in a priest’s family may eat it, but it must be eaten in a holy place; it is most holy.

    7 ” ‘The same law applies to both the sin offering and the guilt offering: They belong to the priest who makes atonement with them.

    8 The priest who offers a burnt offering for anyone may keep its hide for himself.

    9 Every grain offering baked in an oven or cooked in a pan or on a griddle belongs to the priest who offers it,

    10 and every grain offering, whether mixed with oil or dry, belongs equally to all the sons of Aaron.

    Why is the bible so obsessed with things belonging to the priests?  Other systems rely on the good works of their holy men to attract donations and gifts, not demanding that the faithful give things and telling them what they must give..  This is no more than extortion.

    The Fellowship Offering

    11 ” ‘These are the regulations for the fellowship offering a person may present to the LORD :

    This is nothing more than a protection racket without any real protection.  This way they don’t actually have to do anything that has any real value to their followers.

    12 ” ‘If he offers it as an expression of thankfulness, then along with this thank offering he is to offer cakes of bread made without yeast and mixed with oil, wafers made without yeast and spread with oil, and cakes of fine flour well-kneaded and mixed with oil.

    Even when something is given freely, they demand more.  Greed.

    13 Along with his fellowship offering of thanksgiving he is to present an offering with cakes of bread made with yeast.

    I’ve been waiting for this.  Now we have yeast being asked for and still no reason why they don’t want it at some points and do at others.

    14 He is to bring one of each kind as an offering, a contribution to the LORD; it belongs to the priest who sprinkles the blood of the fellowship offerings.

    If these were real holy men they would have no need for belongings.

    15 The meat of his fellowship offering of thanksgiving must be eaten on the day it is offered; he must leave none of it till morning.

    16 ” ‘If, however, his offering is the result of a vow or is a freewill offering, the sacrifice shall be eaten on the day he offers it, but anything left over may be eaten on the next day.

    17 Any meat of the sacrifice left over till the third day must be burned up.

    8 If any meat of the fellowship offering is eaten on the third day, it will not be accepted. It will not be credited to the one who offered it, for it is impure; the person who eats any of it will be held responsible.

    Responsible in what way?

    19 ” ‘Meat that touches anything ceremonially unclean must not be eaten; it must be burned up. As for other meat, anyone ceremonially clean may eat it.

    20 But if anyone who is unclean eats any meat of the fellowship offering belonging to the LORD, that person must be cut off from his people.

    Ooooooh, the Lord can kill millions but men can’t eat offered meat without being cast out.  Talk about unfair, over the top punishments.

    21 If anyone touches something unclean—whether human uncleanness or an unclean animal or any unclean, detestable thing—and then eats any of the meat of the fellowship offering belonging to the LORD, that person must be cut off from his people.’ “

    Horsefeathers.

    Eating Fat and Blood Forbidden

    22 The LORD said to Moses,

    23 “Say to the Israelites: ‘Do not eat any of the fat of cattle, sheep or goats.

    You can’t eat the meat without eating some of the fat.

    24 The fat of an animal found dead or torn by wild animals may be used for any other purpose, but you must not eat it.

    That’s right, take road pizza off the menu.

    25 Anyone who eats the fat of an animal from which an offering by fire may be made to the LORD must be cut off from his people.

    26 And wherever you live, you must not eat the blood of any bird or animal.

    Yeah fine, you try telling that to people who eat Black Pudding.   :)

    27 If anyone eats blood, that person must be cut off from his people.’ “

    The Priests’ Share

    28 The LORD said to Moses,

    I wonder if the LORD gets laryngitis?  :)

    29 “Say to the Israelites: ‘Anyone who brings a fellowship offering to the LORD is to bring part of it as his sacrifice to the LORD.

    30 With his own hands he is to bring the offering made to the LORD by fire; he is to bring the fat, together with the breast, and wave the breast before the LORD as a wave offering.

    Here Lord, here.  Come get it Lord.  Here boy.  Sit.  Stay.

    31 The priest shall burn the fat on the altar, but the breast belongs to Aaron and his sons.

    32 You are to give the right thigh of your fellowship offerings to the priest as a contribution.

    33 The son of Aaron who offers the blood and the fat of the fellowship offering shall have the right thigh as his share.

    34 From the fellowship offerings of the Israelites, I have taken the breast that is waved and the thigh that is presented and have given them to Aaron the priest and his sons as their regular share from the Israelites.’ ”

    You really need to take note of the amount of meat these guys are getting.  When you add up the amount of people there are out there wandering the desert with Moses, that is a fecking lot of meet a few priests are getting.  There is no possible way they could eat all that.  There must be a lot of waste.

    35 This is the portion of the offerings made to the LORD by fire that were allotted to Aaron and his sons on the day they were presented to serve the LORD as priests.

    36 On the day they were anointed, the LORD commanded that the Israelites give this to them as their regular share for the generations to come.

    37 These, then, are the regulations for the burnt offering, the grain offering, the sin offering, the guilt offering, the ordination offering and the fellowship offering,

    Six different offerings from all these people to only a handful of god following, frock wearing, buttmonkeys.

    38 which the LORD gave Moses on Mount Sinai on the day he commanded the Israelites to bring their offerings to the LORD, in the Desert of Sinai.

    There is not one line of this section that would be included in a well thought out ‘good book’.

    1 ” ‘If a person sins because he does not speak up when he hears a public charge to testify regarding something he has seen or learned about, he will be held responsible.

    Fair enough.

    2 ” ‘Or if a person touches anything ceremonially unclean—whether the carcasses of unclean wild animals or of unclean livestock or of unclean creatures that move along the ground—even though he is unaware of it, he has become unclean and is guilty.

    Aaaaargh! You go from something good that I can agree with to something utterly ridiculous.

    3 ” ‘Or if he touches human uncleanness—anything that would make him unclean—even though he is unaware of it, when he learns of it he will be guilty.

    Guilty even if unaware?  That is wrong.

    4 ” ‘Or if a person thoughtlessly takes an oath to do anything, whether good or evil—in any matter one might carelessly swear about—even though he is unaware of it, in any case when he learns of it he will be guilty.

    WTF? Someone is guilty if they carelessly do something good?  No wonder this book is thought of in such a negative manner.

    5 ” ‘When anyone is guilty in any of these ways, he must confess in what way he has sinned

    No he (or she for that matter) isn’t.  That is also ridiculous.

    6 and, as a penalty for the sin he has committed, he must bring to the LORD a female lamb or goat from the flock as a sin offering; and the priest shall make atonement for him for his sin.

    7 ” ‘If he cannot afford a lamb, he is to bring two doves or two young pigeons to the LORD as a penalty for his sin—one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering.

    8 He is to bring them to the priest, who shall first offer the one for the sin offering. He is to wring its head from its neck, not severing it completely,

    This would attract new sheeple to the church each week.  They should bring it back.

    9 and is to sprinkle some of the blood of the sin offering against the side of the altar; the rest of the blood must be drained out at the base of the altar. It is a sin offering.

    10 The priest shall then offer the other as a burnt offering in the prescribed way and make atonement for him for the sin he has committed, and he will be forgiven.

    11 ” ‘If, however, he cannot afford two doves or two young pigeons, he is to bring as an offering for his sin a tenth of an ephah of fine flour for a sin offering. He must not put oil or incense on it, because it is a sin offering.

    12 He is to bring it to the priest, who shall take a handful of it as a memorial portion and burn it on the altar on top of the offerings made to the LORD by fire. It is a sin offering.

    13 In this way the priest will make atonement for him for any of these sins he has committed, and he will be forgiven. The rest of the offering will belong to the priest, as in the case of the grain offering.’ “

    Nothing more than a way to get the sheeple to give you a living without having to really work for it.

    The Guilt Offering

    14 The LORD said to Moses:

    15 “When a person commits a violation and sins unintentionally in regard to any of the LORD’s holy things, he is to bring to the LORD as a penalty a ram from the flock, one without defect and of the proper value in silver, according to the sanctuary shekel. It is a guilt offering.

    There is no such thing as an unintentional sin.  What a crock.

    16 He must make restitution for what he has failed to do in regard to the holy things, add a fifth of the value to that and give it all to the priest, who will make atonement for him with the ram as a guilt offering, and he will be forgiven.

    Oh yeah, give it all to the priest.  When is the priest going to give something back?

    17 “If a person sins and does what is forbidden in any of the LORD’s commands, even though he does not know it, he is guilty and will be held responsible.

    Just another bullshit excuse to extort currency, food and belongings from the people.

    18 He is to bring to the priest as a guilt offering a ram from the flock, one without defect and of the proper value. In this way the priest will make atonement for him for the wrong he has committed unintentionally, and he will be forgiven.

    19 It is a guilt offering; he has been guilty of wrongdoing against the LORD.”

    I don’t think the church has ever had enough money or goods in it’s whole history to pay for it’s own accumulated guilt.

    Exodus 32: The Flight from Egypt

    The Golden Calf

    1 When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, “Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what has happened to him.”

    Make no idols ring a bell people?

    2 Aaron answered them, “Take off the gold earrings that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me.”

    3 So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron.

    4 He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, “These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.”

    Gods?  Plural?  WTF?

    5 When Aaron saw this, he built an altar in front of the calf and announced, “Tomorrow there will be a festival to the LORD.”

    6 So the next day the people rose early and sacrificed burnt offerings and presented fellowship offerings. Afterward they sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry.

    7 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go down, because your people, whom you brought up out of Egypt, have become corrupt.

    Aaron’s fault.  Let’s get him.  Stone the sonofabitch!!!

    8 They have been quick to turn away from what I commanded them and have made themselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf. They have bowed down to it and sacrificed to it and have said, ‘These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.’

    Is this any different to the idols of Jebus in churches that everyone keeps bowing down to and praying?

    9 “I have seen these people,” the LORD said to Moses, “and they are a stiff-necked people.

    10 Now leave me alone so that my anger may burn against them and that I may destroy them. Then I will make you into a great nation.”

    Yeah, yeah, we’ve all heard that before.  It’s just kill, kill, kill with you isn’t it!

    11 But Moses sought the favor of the LORD his God. “O LORD,” he said, “why should your anger burn against your people, whom you brought out of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand?

    12 Why should the Egyptians say, ‘It was with evil intent that he brought them out, to kill them in the mountains and to wipe them off the face of the earth’? Turn from your fierce anger; relent and do not bring disaster on your people.

    Yeah, you tell him Moses.  Don’t let him push you around.  Who does he think he is? God?

    13 Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac and Israel, to whom you swore by your own self: ‘I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and I will give your descendants all this land I promised them, and it will be their inheritance forever.’ “

    14 Then the LORD relented and did not bring on his people the disaster he had threatened.

    Ridiculous crap. The LORD would have known that Moses would say that and would have relented before he even made the threat.  This of course means that it was an empty threat to begin with, which also means it was a lie.  Good going God, you mythical lying sonofabitch.

    15 Moses turned and went down the mountain with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands. They were inscribed on both sides, front and back.

    16 The tablets were the work of God; the writing was the writing of God, engraved on the tablets.

    17 When Joshua heard the noise of the people shouting, he said to Moses, “There is the sound of war in the camp.”

    18 Moses replied:
    “It is not the sound of victory,
    it is not the sound of defeat;
    it is the sound of singing that I hear.”

    Was Joshua deaf or something?

    19 When Moses approached the camp and saw the calf and the dancing, his anger burned and he threw the tablets out of his hands, breaking them to pieces at the foot of the mountain.

    Bad tempered moron.  Where is all the goodness we’re supposed to expect from this idiot book?

    20 And he took the calf they had made and burned it in the fire; then he ground it to powder, scattered it on the water and made the Israelites drink it.

    21 He said to Aaron, “What did these people do to you, that you led them into such great sin?”

    22 “Do not be angry, my lord,” Aaron answered. “You know how prone these people are to evil.

    23 They said to me, ‘Make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what has happened to him.’

    24 So I told them, ‘Whoever has any gold jewelry, take it off.’ Then they gave me the gold, and I threw it into the fire, and out came this calf!”

    25 Moses saw that the people were running wild and that Aaron had let them get out of control and so become a laughingstock to their enemies.

    26 So he stood at the entrance to the camp and said, “Whoever is for the LORD, come to me.” And all the Levites rallied to him.

    27 Then he said to them, “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘Each man strap a sword to his side. Go back and forth through the camp from one end to the other, each killing his brother and friend and neighbor.’ “

    God never said that.

    28 The Levites did as Moses commanded, and that day about three thousand of the people died.

    The compassion and forgiveness is overwhelming.  My heart bursts with love.  NOT!!!

    29 Then Moses said, “You have been set apart to the LORD today, for you were against your own sons and brothers, and he has blessed you this day.”

    Yeah, I guess that is the sort of thing he would like.

    30 The next day Moses said to the people, “You have committed a great sin. But now I will go up to the LORD; perhaps I can make atonement for your sin.”

    Wasn’t killing their brothers and sons enough atonement?

    31 So Moses went back to the LORD and said, “Oh, what a great sin these people have committed! They have made themselves gods of gold.

    32 But now, please forgive their sin—but if not, then blot me out of the book you have written.”

    33 The LORD replied to Moses, “Whoever has sinned against me I will blot out of my book.

    34 Now go, lead the people to the place I spoke of, and my angel will go before you. However, when the time comes for me to punish, I will punish them for their sin.”

    The ones who sinned are dead aren’t they?  What gives here?

    35 And the LORD struck the people with a plague because of what they did with the calf Aaron had made.

    So all those who were killed, three thousand of them, were killed for no reason at all?  Again, it is becoming very hard for me to express my feelings in words other than ones I don’t wish to use on my blog.  I’m horrified by the violence and the way that violence is committed by the people in this book.  To trust one person who says that ‘God’ told him to kill three thousand people to the point of actually slaughtering them all, family and friends, is beyond comprehension.

    Laws of Justice and Mercy

    1 “Do not spread false reports. Do not help a wicked man by being a malicious witness.

    Good.

    2 “Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you give testimony in a lawsuit, do not pervert justice by siding with the crowd,

    3 and do not show favoritism to a poor man in his lawsuit.

    Unless he is in the right.

    4 “If you come across your enemy’s ox or donkey wandering off, be sure to take it back to him.

    You can make laws about wandering donkeys, but not about treating females with dignity and equality?

    5 If you see the donkey of someone who hates you fallen down under its load, do not leave it there; be sure you help him with it.

    Good, but I still wonder why you spend your time on such small things instead of fixing the big things.

    6 “Do not deny justice to your poor people in their lawsuits.

    Good.

    7 Have nothing to do with a false charge and do not put an innocent or honest person to death, for I will not acquit the guilty.

    8 “Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds those who see and twists the words of the righteous.

    Sabbath Laws

    10 “For six years you are to sow your fields and harvest the crops,

    Leaving 1/7th of the field lie fallow each year and continuing to crop the rest would be a better idea.

    11 but during the seventh year let the land lie unplowed and unused. Then the poor among your people may get food from it, and the wild animals may eat what they leave. Do the same with your vineyard and your olive grove.

    The wild animals are not going to benefit from having a lot to eat every 7 years.  Having a little more each year is better.

    12 “Six days do your work, but on the seventh day do not work, so that your ox and your donkey may rest and the slave born in your household, and the alien as well, may be refreshed.

    Why not say that slavery is wrong?

    13 “Be careful to do everything I have said to you. Do not invoke the names of other gods; do not let them be heard on your lips.

    You admit there are other gods besides you?

    The Three Annual Festivals

    14 “Three times a year you are to celebrate a festival to me.

    That’s a little bigheaded of you.

    15 “Celebrate the Feast of Unleavened Bread; for seven days eat bread made without yeast, as I commanded you. Do this at the appointed time in the month of Abib, for in that month you came out of Egypt.
    “No one is to appear before me empty-handed.

    You call eating unleaved bread a festival?

    16 “Celebrate the Feast of Harvest with the firstfruits of the crops you sow in your field.
    “Celebrate the Feast of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather in your crops from the field.

    So how come we celebrate so many more than these?  If you only want three, you’d think your followers would obey.  Maybe you don’t have the power you ascribe to yourself.

    17 “Three times a year all the men are to appear before the Sovereign LORD.

    You can see them all the time, so what is the point?

    18 “Do not offer the blood of a sacrifice to me along with anything containing yeast.
    “The fat of my festival offerings must not be kept until morning.

    Are you ever going to explain why you have a problem with yeast?

    19 “Bring the best of the firstfruits of your soil to the house of the LORD your God.
    “Do not cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.

    When you don’t eat, what is the point of taking their food?

    God’s Angel to Prepare the Way

    20 “See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.

    The desert isn’t all that big, so why did you have them wander around in it for so long when you could have taken them direct to where you want them? Why make them suffer so many hardships when you didn’t have to?

    21 Pay attention to him and listen to what he says. Do not rebel against him; he will not forgive your rebellion, since my Name is in him.

    Is your name faeces?  Is it bile?  How about snot?  Maybe it’s pus!!!

    22 If you listen carefully to what he says and do all that I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and will oppose those who oppose you.

    Why not make those people into nice amiable types so that everyone can live together in harmony?

    23 My angel will go ahead of you and bring you into the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites and Jebusites, and I will wipe them out.

    Bloodthirsty mongrel you are!!!

    24 Do not bow down before their gods or worship them or follow their practices. You must demolish them and break their sacred stones to pieces.

    You don’t really care about the Israelites. You are just using them to further your own agenda.

    25 Worship the LORD your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you,

    Why not for everyone on the planet?

    26 and none will miscarry or be barren in your land. I will give you a full life span.

    If that was so, then everyone would die at exactly the same age and that did not happen at all.

    27 “I will send my terror ahead of you and throw into confusion every nation you encounter. I will make all your enemies turn their backs and run.

    Encountering people does not make them an enemy.  Why make their lives such a misery?  Thankfully you are only a mythical being, because if you weren’t I’d have to hate you with every fibre of my being.  I’ve never in my life heard of such an uncaring, bloodthirsty, lying, genocidal son of a bitch as you.

    28 I will send the hornet ahead of you to drive the Hivites, Canaanites and Hittites out of your way.

    Making the innocent suffer yet again.

    29 But I will not drive them out in a single year, because the land would become desolate and the wild animals too numerous for you.

    All to further your own agenda as usual.

    30 Little by little I will drive them out before you, until you have increased enough to take possession of the land.

    Why not just let them all live together peacefully?

    31 “I will establish your borders from the Red Sea  to the Sea of the Philistines, and from the desert to the River.

    You could have just had them created in that land in the beginning and saved all this hardship and misery for others.

    32 Do not make a covenant with them or with their gods.

    So, you really don’t want peace.  Making a covenant with them would have been the right thing.

    33 Do not let them live in your land, or they will cause you to sin against me, because the worship of their gods will certainly be a snare to you.” I will hand over to you the people who live in the land and you will drive them out before you.

    If you just showed compassion and love for all, then they wouldn’t want other gods.  They would all flock to you.  Laughable in the extreme.

    Protection of Property

    1 “If a man steals an ox or a sheep and slaughters it or sells it, he must pay back five head of cattle for the ox and four sheep for the sheep.

    God has time to dick around making laws regarding theft of livestock?

    2 “If a thief is caught breaking in and is struck so that he dies, the defender is not guilty of bloodshed;

    Even if it could be proven that death was unnecessary and the thief could have been apprehended without harm?

    3 but if it happens after sunrise, he is guilty of bloodshed.  “A thief must certainly make restitution, but if he has nothing, he must be sold to pay for his theft.

    If it’s dark it’s alright to murder? Selling someone is slavery and wrong at any time and place.

    4 “If the stolen animal is found alive in his possession—whether ox or donkey or sheep—he must pay back double.

    It still makes no sense that a god would bother itself with laws of this kind.

    5 “If a man grazes his livestock in a field or vineyard and lets them stray and they graze in another man’s field, he must make restitution from the best of his own field or vineyard.

    6 “If a fire breaks out and spreads into thornbushes so that it burns shocks of grain or standing grain or the whole field, the one who started the fire must make restitution.

    7 “If a man gives his neighbor silver or goods for safekeeping and they are stolen from the neighbor’s house, the thief, if he is caught, must pay back double.

    8 But if the thief is not found, the owner of the house must appear before the judges to determine whether he has laid his hands on the other man’s property.

    9 In all cases of illegal possession of an ox, a donkey, a sheep, a garment, or any other lost property about which somebody says, ‘This is mine,’ both parties are to bring their cases before the judges. The one whom the judges declare guilty must pay back double to his neighbor.

    10 “If a man gives a donkey, an ox, a sheep or any other animal to his neighbor for safekeeping and it dies or is injured or is taken away while no one is looking,

    11 the issue between them will be settled by the taking of an oath before the LORD that the neighbor did not lay hands on the other person’s property. The owner is to accept this, and no restitution is required.

    Easy way of getting around being a criminal. Just lie.

    12 But if the animal was stolen from the neighbor, he must make restitution to the owner.

    Not if he takes the oath.

    13 If it was torn to pieces by a wild animal, he shall bring in the remains as evidence and he will not be required to pay for the torn animal.

    14 “If a man borrows an animal from his neighbor and it is injured or dies while the owner is not present, he must make restitution.

    Not if he takes the oath.

    15 But if the owner is with the animal, the borrower will not have to pay. If the animal was hired, the money paid for the hire covers the loss.

    Social Responsibility

    16 “If a man seduces a virgin who is not pledged to be married and sleeps with her, he must pay the bride-price, and she shall be his wife.

    What? No thought for what the woman might want? Silly me. I should have known better.  This is the bible, of course they don’t care.

    17 If her father absolutely refuses to give her to him, he must still pay the bride-price for virgins.

    Which is?

    18 “Do not allow a sorceress to live.

    Now this is good. God makes laws regarding witches?  Magic is just as mythical as he is so it shouldn’t surprise anyone.  BUT, if there were such things as witches, then God himself must have created them.  Why would he do such a thing? Freakin’ moron.

    19 “Anyone who has sexual relations with an animal must be put to death.

    It might be ‘icky’ and gross, but death? You do love a drop of blood don’t you!!!

    20 “Whoever sacrifices to any god other than the LORD must be destroyed.

    How can they if you are the only god? You contradict yourself.  Gotta say it.  MORON!!

    21 “Do not mistreat an alien or oppress him, for you were aliens in Egypt.

    It never bothered you to mistreat anyone or have your people mistreat others before.

    22 “Do not take advantage of a widow or an orphan.

    Cool, I like this one.

    23 If you do and they cry out to me, I will certainly hear their cry.

    But will you do anything about it?  It seems not or there wouldn’t be so many orphan kids being raped by your guys in frocks.

    24 My anger will be aroused, and I will kill you with the sword; your wives will become widows and your children fatherless.

    You don’t use swords. You get others to use them. Also, if it’s not good to take advantage of widows and orphans, why are you so in favour of creating them yourself?

    25 “If you lend money to one of my people among you who is needy, do not be like a moneylender; charge him no interest.

    Show me where that guy is and I’ll go borrow money off him.  :)

    26 If you take your neighbor’s cloak as a pledge, return it to him by sunset,

    What if he hasn’t fulfilled his pledge by that time?

    27 because his cloak is the only covering he has for his body. What else will he sleep in? When he cries out to me, I will hear, for I am compassionate.

    So anyone that gives a cloak as a pledge mustn’t have any other clothes? Is this also some kind of law?  What happens if he does have other clothes and tries to give his cloak as a pledge?  Will he be unable to do so?  Oh, compassionate? You? It was compassionate to kill all those Egyptians by drowning them was it?

    28 “Do not blaspheme God or curse the ruler of your people.

    Or what?  Screw you and screw all our leaders.  Waiting…

    29 “Do not hold back offerings from your granaries or your vats. “You must give me the firstborn of your sons.

    Done!  He’s yours.

    30 Do the same with your cattle and your sheep. Let them stay with their mothers for seven days, but give them to me on the eighth day.

    For what?  You do sheep?

    31 “You are to be my holy people. So do not eat the meat of an animal torn by wild beasts; throw it to the dogs.

    Bugger, no road kill either I suppose.

    Exodus 21: The Flight from Egypt 

    Exodus: Part 21 of 40

    1 “These are the laws you are to set before them:

    Hebrew Servants

    2 “If you buy a Hebrew servant, he is to serve you for six years. But in the seventh year, he shall go free, without paying anything.

    This is not a servant.  It is slavery and not something that a ‘good’ person would wish upon a fellow human being.

    3 If he comes alone, he is to go free alone; but if he has a wife when he comes, she is to go with him.

    So generous of you.

    4 If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the woman and her children shall belong to her master, and only the man shall go free.

    Anyone who makes laws regarding the buying, trading or selling of slaves is as much a slaver trader/dealer as the person doing the trading/dealing and should be treated as such.  You, if you were real, are an abhorent being and not deserving of respect or obedience.

    5 “But if the servant declares, ‘I love my master and my wife and children and do not want to go free,’

    I could imagine someone saying that if they really loved their wife or the alternative would be worse, but slavery is still one of the worst crimes humanity has the ignominy of having committed.  It is a shameful act and for it to be promoted and accepted by a so-called god, is despicable.

    6 then his master must take him before the judges. He shall take him to the door or the doorpost and pierce his ear with an awl. Then he will be his servant for life.

    A mark of ownership on a human being is also an abhorent practice.

    7 “If a man sells his daughter as a servant, she is not to go free as menservants do.

    Another example of God’s mysoginistic attitude towards women and girls.

    8 If she does not please the master who has selected her for himself, he must let her be redeemed. He has no right to sell her to foreigners, because he has broken faith with her.

    It’s still trading in human flesh no matter how much you try and make out you dress it up with ‘protective’ rules.

    9 If he selects her for his son, he must grant her the rights of a daughter.

    Still wrong.  A female is and should not be ‘selected’ like a beast of burden.

    10 If he marries another woman, he must not deprive the first one of her food, clothing and marital rights.

    With gender populations being close to 50/50 bigamy is a bad practice.  It will only work in a society where some males are deprived of the right to marry. Slavery is one cause of such a situation.

    11 If he does not provide her with these three things, she is to go free, without any payment of money.

    She should be free to do what she wishes by default and not rely on the vagaries of morons like this.

    Personal Injuries

    12 “Anyone who strikes a man and kills him shall surely be put to death.

    If mankind has been able to overcome this unconscienable act in most parts of the world, you would think a god would know better.

    13 However, if he does not do it intentionally, but God lets it happen, he is to flee to a place I will designate.

    Just how does a person prove you let it happen?

    14 But if a man schemes and kills another man deliberately, take him away from my altar and put him to death.

    15 “Anyone who attacks his father or his mother must be put to death.

    16 “Anyone who kidnaps another and either sells him or still has him when he is caught must be put to death.

    Then why did you not put Joseph’s brothers to death?  Not in your interests?  Hypocrisy.

    17 “Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.

    There would hardly be a person left alive if this was true.

    18 “If men quarrel and one hits the other with a stone or with his fist and he does not die but is confined to bed,

    Then they should find a way to settle their differences and think themselves lucky.

    19 the one who struck the blow will not be held responsible if the other gets up and walks around outside with his staff; however, he must pay the injured man for the loss of his time and see that he is completely healed.

    That is being held responsible.

    20 “If a man beats his male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies as a direct result, he must be punished,

    He should not have a slave in the first place.

    21 but he is not to be punished if the slave gets up after a day or two, since the slave is his property.

    No man or woman or child is the property of another human being.

    22 “If men who are fighting hit a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely but there is no serious injury, the offender must be fined whatever the woman’s husband demands and the court allows.

    People had these kinds of laws before God came along.

    23 But if there is serious injury, you are to take life for life,

    Bloodthirsty bastard.

    24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,

    Must I repeat myself?

    25 burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise.

    As I said…

    26 “If a man hits a manservant or maidservant in the eye and destroys it, he must let the servant go free to compensate for the eye.

    Slavery is wrong.  They should be punished just for having slaves.

    27 And if he knocks out the tooth of a manservant or maidservant, he must let the servant go free to compensate for the tooth.

    28 “If a bull gores a man or a woman to death, the bull must be stoned to death, and its meat must not be eaten. But the owner of the bull will not be held responsible.

    An animal killing a human being is not the same as a human killing a human. There is no justification for stoning anyone or anything, but doing it to an animal is so cruel it boggles the imagination that a god could say it is alright.

    29 If, however, the bull has had the habit of goring and the owner has been warned but has not kept it penned up and it kills a man or woman, the bull must be stoned and the owner also must be put to death.

    Ok, kill the bull if it has become a danger, but there is no need to stone it.  That is inhumane behaviour.

    30 However, if payment is demanded of him, he may redeem his life by paying whatever is demanded.

    31 This law also applies if the bull gores a son or daughter.

    32 If the bull gores a male or female slave, the owner must pay thirty shekels of silver to the master of the slave, and the bull must be stoned.

    These are moronic laws. (yes I do like using the word ‘moron’)  :)

    33 “If a man uncovers a pit or digs one and fails to cover it and an ox or a donkey falls into it,

    34 the owner of the pit must pay for the loss; he must pay its owner, and the dead animal will be his.

    What if another person falls into it?

    35 “If a man’s bull injures the bull of another and it dies, they are to sell the live one and divide both the money and the dead animal equally.

    It would be better to swap animals.  Why should the owner of the dead bull lose out?

    36 However, if it was known that the bull had the habit of goring, yet the owner did not keep it penned up, the owner must pay, animal for animal, and the dead animal will be his.

    That is how it should have been in the first place.

    Quite honestly a god would not make idiotic laws like this.  This is man made and bereft of any real justice whatsoever.  Man himself has done a much better job of making laws since this time and we’re getting better at it.

    Exodus 13: The Flight from Egypt

    Consecration of the Firstborn

    1 The LORD said to Moses,

    Why, when he can just make Moses do anything he wants, does he just talk to him like this?  And don’t give me any of that freewill crap, because that was proved a load of rubbish right through Genesis and up to Exodus 12 last night.  God has been forcing people to do stuff all the time.

    2 “Consecrate to me every firstborn male. The first offspring of every womb among the Israelites belongs to me, whether man or animal.”

    At least they still have their firstborn, unlike the Egyptians.

    3 Then Moses said to the people, “Commemorate this day, the day you came out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery, because the LORD brought you out of it with a mighty hand. Eat nothing containing yeast.

    He could have done it without killing everything in sight.

    4 Today, in the month of Abib, you are leaving.

    5 When the LORD brings you into the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Hivites and Jebusites—the land he swore to your forefathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey—you are to observe this ceremony in this month:

    What happened to the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Hivites and Jebusites?  Were they done away with as well?

    6 For seven days eat bread made without yeast and on the seventh day hold a festival to the LORD.

    Can we have a jumping castle as well?

    7 Eat unleavened bread during those seven days; nothing with yeast in it is to be seen among you, nor shall any yeast be seen anywhere within your borders.

    First it wasn’t to be in the dough. Then it wasn’t to be inside their houses.  Now it’s not within their borders.  Make up your freaking omniscient mind you moron.

    8 On that day tell your son, ‘I do this because of what the LORD did for me when I came out of Egypt.’

    Ah, so you are celebrating the death of all the ‘firstborn’ in Egypt?  Then it should be called the Festival of the Murdered instead.

    9 This observance will be for you like a sign on your hand and a reminder on your forehead that the law of the LORD is to be on your lips. For the LORD brought you out of Egypt with his mighty hand.

    No, they walked out.  You just scared the crap out of the Egyptians so they’d let them go.  Not to mention the plagues you set upon them.

    10 You must keep this ordinance at the appointed time year after year.

    Or what? You’ll take away their jumping castle?

    11 “After the LORD brings you into the land of the Canaanites and gives it to you, as he promised on oath to you and your forefathers,

    12 you are to give over to the LORD the first offspring of every womb. All the firstborn males of your livestock belong to the LORD.

    The firstborn of every womb would mean all the firstborn Israelite children and firstborn of all animals.

    13 Redeem with a lamb every firstborn donkey, but if you do not redeem it, break its neck. Redeem every firstborn among your sons.

    So, what is this for?  What does God need all this death for?  Just to get his jollies?

    14 “In days to come, when your son asks you, ‘What does this mean?’ say to him, ‘With a mighty hand the LORD brought us out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

    15 When Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let us go, the LORD killed every firstborn in Egypt, both man and animal. This is why I sacrifice to the LORD the first male offspring of every womb and redeem each of my firstborn sons.’

    No, you could have done it with less than a wave of the hand instead of killing so many innocents.  You are a lying, murderous, genocidal son-of-a-bitch that would deserve the worst punishment man could dream up if you were real.  Lucky for us though you are just the figment of some very illiterate desert dwelling powermongers.

    16 And it will be like a sign on your hand and a symbol on your forehead that the LORD brought us out of Egypt with his mighty hand.”

    God is a wart on the arse of mankind that reminds him that the bible is the tool of those that can’t face reality, so need to rely on a make believe friend to get them through life without curling up in the foetal position and crying like babies.

    Crossing the Sea

    17 When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For God said, “If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.”

    Not if he didn’t want that.  How come he can force the hand of the Egyptians, but not the Israelites or the Philistines?

    18 So God led the people around by the desert road toward the Red Sea. The Israelites went up out of Egypt armed for battle.

    Why would they be armed for battle?

    19 Moses took the bones of Joseph with him because Joseph had made the sons of Israel swear an oath. He had said, “God will surely come to your aid, and then you must carry my bones up with you from this place.”

    Dem bones, dem bones, dem dry bones…

    20 After leaving Succoth they camped at Etham on the edge of the desert.

    Which has relevance how exactly?

    21 By day the LORD went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night.

    He couldn’t just place the information in their minds like he’s done before?  He couldn’t just tell them which way to go?  Why all the drama?

    22 Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people.

    Of course not. What reason could there be for the ‘signs’ to leave?  It’s not like he plays tricks and leads his favourite people astray is it?

    Exodus 11: The Flight from Egypt 

    Exodus: Part 11 of 40

    The Plague on the Firstborn

    1 Now the LORD had said to Moses, “I will bring one more plague on Pharaoh and on Egypt. After that, he will let you go from here, and when he does, he will drive you out completely.

    2 Tell the people that men and women alike are to ask their neighbors for articles of silver and gold.”

    3 (The LORD made the Egyptians favorably disposed toward the people, and Moses himself was highly regarded in Egypt by Pharaoh’s officials and by the people.)

    Having God make you disposed towards someone means nothing.  Doing it because they are good people has merit.

    4 So Moses said, “This is what the LORD says: ‘About midnight I will go throughout Egypt.

    5 Every firstborn son in Egypt will die, from the firstborn son of Pharaoh, who sits on the throne, to the firstborn son of the slave girl, who is at her hand mill, and all the firstborn of the cattle as well.

    WTF?  What is the need for so much death?  Killing babies?  Get a grip people, this is the lowest form of life you could possibly think of, now or then.  And what the hell did the cattle do to deserve this treatment?

    6 There will be loud wailing throughout Egypt—worse than there has ever been or ever will be again.

    There wasn’t enough people in the land at that time to overcome what the Catholic Church did in Europe or the Nazis during the Second World War, so this is not true either.

    7 But among the Israelites not a dog will bark at any man or animal.’ Then you will know that the LORD makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel.

    For what reason?

    8 All these officials of yours will come to me, bowing down before me and saying, ‘Go, you and all the people who follow you!’ After that I will leave.” Then Moses, hot with anger, left Pharaoh.

    Anger?  What right does Moses have to be angry with Pharaoh?  Moses of all people should know that it wasn’t Pharaoh’s fault.

    9 The LORD had said to Moses, “Pharaoh will refuse to listen to you—so that my wonders may be multiplied in Egypt.”

    10 Moses and Aaron performed all these wonders before Pharaoh, but the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he would not let the Israelites go out of his country.
